🔹 Product Overview
Mytera 250 mg Tablet contains Abiraterone Acetate 250 mg and is an oral hormonal anticancer medicine used in the management of advanced prostate cancer.
Mytera works by reducing androgen production, including testosterone, which can help slow the growth and progression of prostate cancer. It is generally used as part of a doctor-directed treatment regimen and is commonly administered with a corticosteroid such as prednisolone/prednisone.
🔹 Composition
Active Ingredient: Abiraterone Acetate 250 mg
Dosage Form: Tablet
Therapeutic Class: Antineoplastic / Hormonal Anticancer Agent
🔹 Uses And Indications
Mytera 250 mg may be prescribed for:
Advanced or metastatic prostate cancer
Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)
Selected cases of metastatic hormone-sensitive/castration-sensitive prostate cancer
Prostate cancer requiring androgen-deprivation therapy as determined by an oncologist
🔹 How It Works
Abiraterone acetate inhibits the CYP17 enzyme, which is involved in androgen production. By reducing androgen synthesis in the testes, adrenal glands and prostate-cancer tissue, it decreases the hormonal stimulation that can support prostate cancer growth.
🔹 Key Benefits
Helps reduce androgen production in the body.
Supports hormonal management of advanced prostate cancer.
May slow disease progression when used as part of an appropriate oncology treatment regimen.
Can be used alongside androgen-deprivation therapy and a prescribed corticosteroid when clinically indicated.
🔹 Dosage And Administration
Mytera 250 mg should be taken only according to the oncologists prescription. It should generally be swallowed whole with water on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after food. Taking abiraterone with food can substantially increase its exposure and may increase the risk of adverse effects.
The prescribed regimen commonly includes a corticosteroid such as prednisolone or prednisone to reduce the risk of mineralocorticoid-related effects such as fluid retention, hypertension and low potassium. Do not change or discontinue the steroid without medical advice.
